Dealers are Equipped with Newest Version of Coleman® HVAC In Home Selling Tool
Changes to sales tool include updated savings calculator

MILWAUKEE – (Sept. 1, 2010) – Changes to the In Home Selling Tool equip Coleman® HVAC dealers to provide homeowners with a better estimate of the savings associated with the purchase of a new Coleman air conditioner, heat pump and/or furnace.

Introduced to Coleman HVAC dealers in 2008, the In Home Selling Tool is a professional, interactive program designed to help dealers prescribe solutions to best fit the comfort needs of their customers. In addition to an interactive questionnaire that runs from a dealer’s laptop and examines information about the house, the existing heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) system and homeowner needs, the tool includes a calculator that estimates the savings associated with a particular piece of equipment.

According to Natalie DeRousse, sales and UST training manager, Johnson Controls, revisions to the In Home Selling Tool include updates to the savings calculator. “In the past, the energy savings calculator relied on static, national utility rates that were published in 2001,” she explained. “The upgraded In Home Selling Tool gives dealers the ability to enter current electric and natural gas utility rates for the region in which a customer’s home is located. The result is a more accurate estimate of savings, tailored to the region where the homeowner lives.”

Changes to the In Home Selling Tool also include updated product information and the addition of two new videos – one that examines the federal tax credit that expires Dec. 31, 2010, and a second that focuses on hybrid systems. These additions join a group of short videos designed to provide homeowners with information about the benefits of a specific home comfort topic, using clear language that is easy for a homeowner to understand.

“Dealers who make use of the questions, videos and savings calculator have the opportunity to more actively engage homeowners in the purchase process,” said Mary Mocarski, Coleman HVAC brand manager for Johnson Controls. “Homeowners who take the time to complete the questionnaire, view the videos and discuss the results of the savings calculator will gain a sense of ownership in the purchase process and end up with a home comfort system that best meets their needs.”

Results of the homeowner questionnaire are presented in a graphic report to help dealers customize their sales presentations and close the sale. The questionnaire also adds credibility to dealers and positions them as a valuable resource to homeowners.

“At the same time,” added Mocarski, “the In Home Selling Tool reinforces our commitment to supporting independent dealers by providing them with the tools they need to be successful.”
